Prince Arnold Kufulula was born on September 20, 1940, in the village of Mwandi in the Western Province of Zambia. He was the firstborn son of Paramount Chief Kufulula of the Lozi people and his wife, Princess Mwanangwa. Prince Kufulula was educated at the Lozi Royal Court and at Lusaka Boys’ School. He later studied at the University of Zambia, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science.

Prince Kufulula was a member of the Zambian delegation to the independence negotiations in London in 1964. He was also a member of the Constitutional Conference in 1965 which drafted Zambia’s Constitution. Prince Kufulula was elected to the National Assembly in 1966 and served as Minister of Education from 1967 to 1968. He also served as Minister of Home Affairs from 1968 to 1969.

In 1970, Prince Kufulula was appointed as Zambia’s Ambassador to the United States and Canada. He served in this position until 1973, when he was recalled to Lusaka to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Prince Kufulula served as Minister of Foreign Affairs until 1977, when he was appointed as Vice President of Zambia. He served as Vice President until 1981, when he was dismissed from the position by President Kenneth Kaunda.

Prince Kufulula left Zambia in 1982 and went into exile in the United Kingdom. He returned to Zambia in 1991, after the fall of the communist regime. He was elected to the National Assembly in 1992 and served as Minister of Transport and Communications from 1992 to 1993. He retired from politics in 2001.

Prince Kufulula was a member of the Board of Directors of the Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM) from 2001 to 2008. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Zambia from 2001 to 2009.

Prince Kufulula passed away on August 11, 2010, at the age of 69. He was survived by his wife, Princess Margaret, and their four children.
